Partner Exchange 2014 Highlight Recap

Trying to sum up last week’s Partner Exchange 2014 is like trying to sum up the force of gravity, the rising of the sun, or the blue hue of the sky. Okay maybe we’re exaggerating just a bit here, but it is quite difficult to put to words such a dynamic event. What continues to make Partner Exchange so successful each year, are the amazing partners that attend.

This year, each of you took a personal interest in Mastering the New Reality, and what a reality it has become. Here is a recap of some of the major Partner Exchange 2014 announcements:

·      VMware announced that it is joining forces with Google to modernize corporate desktops for the Mobile Cloud Era by providing businesses with secure, cloud access to Windows applications, data and Desktops on Google Chromebooks.

·      F5 Networks and VMware also announced a number of collaborative efforts designed to provide secure access control for customers’ virtual desktop deployments.

·      The 2014 Global VMware Partner Network Awards and Regional Award winners were announced. Each year, VMware recognizes its partners for their demonstrated excellence and achievements. Recipients from around the world in 18 categories received awards for their performance andnotable accomplishments in 2013.

·      VMware announced multiple program enhancements, new competencies and a simplified reward structure to drive greater consistency, predictability and profitability for its Solution Provider, Service Provider and Distribution partners.

·      VMware’s Virtual SAN will be certified with hardware servers and devices from several of our top alliance partners, providing customers with a wide range of options on which to run VMware Virtual SAN.

Looking Towards Tomorrow — Partner Exchange 2014

It’s never easy to say good-bye, especially after a long week of exciting announcements, new partnerships, and looking towards what tomorrow will bring. Partner Exchange 2014 started out as a great event, but ended as a dynamic networking forum, centered around building new relationships and nurturing old ones.

The General Sessions Keynote was yet another moment to be celebrated for more reasons than one. Sanjay Poonen, Executive Vice President and General Manager of End-User Computing at VMware, let it be known that “if you’re not thinking of mobile cloud, you are going to be left behind”. Sanjay made it especially known that VMware just may be trying to “software define everything… even toothbrushes!” Sanjay and his team want to help you and your company work at the speed of light regardless of what device you’re using.

To go hand in hand with Sanjay’s mobile conversation, VMware announced that it is joining forces with Google, as we continue into the Mobile Cloud Era. The goal of this partnership is to modernize corporate desktops for the Mobile Cloud Era by providing businesses with secure, cloud access to Windows applications, data and Desktops on Google Chromebooks.

This expanded relationship between Google and VMware enables enterprise customers to achieve greater security and lower Total Cost of Ownership of Google Chromebooks along with cloud access to current and legacy applications, delivered on the industry proven Desktop as a Service (DaaS) platform from VMware. Part II of the End-User Computing keynote included the announcement of the AirWatch acquisition, which will provide customers with the most complete solution to manage users, devices and applications across desktop and mobile environments. John Marshall, Founder and CEO of AirWatch, believes that “together we can lead this mobile industry”.

VMware CEO, Pat Gelsinger brought it all full circle by asking you, our valued partners, “Who do you want to hitch your wagon to?” Who you are going to bet on for leadership into the mobile cloud era? Is VMware one of the companies you want to commit your future to? Are you willing to Master the New Reality with us?

If there is one thing to note from this evolution of cloud growth, it is that staying educated and taking action are two necessary steps for the coming year. The goal here is to secure customer retention and help position your company as a relevant thought leader in the industry today.

Today’s General Sessions Keynote ended with Salman Khan, Founder and Executive Director of Khan Academy, a nonprofit with the mission of providing free, high-quality education to “anyone, anywhere” in the world as he shared his vision of what education is becoming. Learning and educating come in many forms. Whether it is through a company’s own training service, professional online videos or hands-on interactions at partner events, there is no denying that knowledge is power. With the goal of becoming the catalyst between education and success, VMware is doing it’s part to provide you with Quarterly launch presentation, Hands-on-labs, Training through Partner University, and offering free Workshops around the globe. In return, we ask you to take the first step in using these resources and joining us as we journey on to Master the New Reality of Cloud Computing together.

PEX 2014 – Day 2 Recap

It’s hard to believe Day 2 of Partner Exchange 2014 is almost over. Today’s jam-packed agenda kicked off with a General Sessions Keynote by the top VMware Channel executives, and ended with some great networking events.

Today we announced multiple partner program enhancements, new competencies and a simplified reward structure that will make it easier for you to grow your business. We also announced that VMware’s Virtual SAN will be certified with hardware servers and devices from several of our top alliance partners including Cisco, Dell, EMC, HP, Samsung Electronics and others, providing customers with a wide range of options on which to run VMware Virtual SAN, which will GA this quarter.

With so many new and exciting announcements, there is no doubt that today marked a very successful Day 2 at PEX. With over 150 breakout sessions, Hands-on-Labs, a showcase of products at the Solutions Exchange, and more productive partner meetings than you can count, we are convinced you are as eager as we are to Master the New Reality of cloud computing.

Our program enhancementsenable better consistency, predictability and profitability. Starting in May, you will be able to join the VMware Partner Network without having to identify what specific program they want to join, allowing greater flexibility for growth. Read about these program enhancements in more detail.

VMware also announced broad ecosystem support for VMware Virtual SAN. Currently available in publicbeta, VMware Virtual SAN will be certified with hardware servers and devices from Cisco, Dell, EMC, Fusion-io, HGST, a Western Digital company, HP, IBM,Intel, LSI, Samsung Electronics, SanDisk and Seagate at general availability — providing customers with a wide range of options on which to run VMware Virtual SAN. VMware Virtual SAN is expected to be generally available in Q1 2014.
