It’s Time to Get Social

As we approach our final VMware Partner Network December Blog series on how to increase your marketing visibility for the New Year, we couldn’t leave without first offering you some social best practices.

To start, it is important to begin with valuable content. This can be in the form of a video, photo, webinar, event, newsletter, eBook or blog, just so long as it points your customers to valuable information or a great resource.

Once you have your valuable content, it is then time to incorporate a fully intergraded marketing campaign. The goal here is to get a potential customer to register. You can do this through implementing search engine optimization (SEO), post on LinkedIn groups or run an email campaign with Event-in-a-Box by incorporating this valuable content.

One easy way of managing your social component and generating original content is through The VMware Social Media Syndication Tool platform. This tool is a zero install, easy-to-use marketing platform that lets VMware publish content that can be selected and utilized by their partners, and best of all, it’s free!

VMware’s marketing team takes on the complexities of creating compelling, rich campaigns and social discussions, while  The VMware Social Media Syndication Tool makes it easy to select and use so it looks like you originated the content yourself. From Social Media Syndication and Web Analytics, this tool is a great way to have VMware marketing delivered to you. Get registered today.

Along with pushing out great content, it is also important to position yourself as a thought leader in the industry by generating your own. Think about what your customers are reading or where they are going to get information and try to offer them key pointers that could help them with their business. You will slowly but surely begin to be sought after for your expertise in areas that matter to them.

Another way you can position yourself as a thought leader is by participating in a Partner Success Story. The VMware Partner Success Story Program showcases partners globally that are committed to working with VMware to deliver integrated IT solutions and business value to customers. By sharing your experience and best practices with your peers, you will have the opportunity to increase visibility around the business impact of your virtualization strategy and implementation, and highlight your success. This is a win-win for both you and VMware.

So let’s just say you have developed a fully integrated marketing campaign, complete with valuable content and a way to push it out over social, and have established yourself as a thought leader through a Partner Success Story… what’s next?

The next important step will be metrics tracking. From LinkedIn connections andsubject line wins, to email click through and open rates. Act on what your metrics are telling you. VMware’s GRID can help you do wonders in this area. If one sample subject line is receiving more opens than another, be sure to use that one when sending to the rest or your larger distribution list.

We hope you’ve enjoyed this four part December blog series on how to increase your marketing visibility for the New Year. Besure to follow us on PartnerLink, Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook, and leave any comments or questions below. We look forward to connecting with you soon.

Nurturing Leads and Running a Successful Email Campaign

Can you believe we are well into week 3 of our VMware Partner Network December Blog series on how to increase your marketing visibility for the New Year? Us either… time truly flies when you’re having fun.

Last week we discussed how to generate and own your marketing leads, and this week we are thrilled to share the ways in which you can nurture these leads and ultimately convert them into sales opportunities.

Let’s get started. It may come as a surprise to some that nurturing leads doesn’t have to be as tedious as it may seem; instead it’s really as simple as holding in-person/virtual events for your customers.

Your event campaigns should include email invitations, attendee registration tracking, and speaker materials that enable easy execution on events.  Let’s take a deeper drive into emails. As you connect with your leads it will be important to maintain momentum so here are some things to keep in mind when developing your email campaign:

Layout and Pictures are Important

– When creating your emails, it is important to have clear calls to action and incorporate more then just text by utilizing pictures.

– You can also create an echo effect by linking to your social tools as buttons off to the side of the email.

– Keep readers engaged by incorporating an infographic approach with your emails.

Add Content and Copy

– Adding an eBook or White Paper with the purpose of solving a customer pain point is key since it offers a call-to-action and is a way to capture contact information since customers will want to know more.

– Consider testing multiple subject lines with a small sample and figuring out which generates the best open rate and then using it more broadly.

Implement Tracking

– It will be important to implement tracking not only for email open rates, but to determine what content and which links within the email is being clicked on.

To Sum it All Up

– Be sure to apply a social component to traditional email marketing campaigns.

– Think about your copy and make sure it solves a customer pain point.

– Test your subject line and build your integrated marketing approach by incorporating video and blog links when talking to your readers.

Generating and Owning Your Marketing Leads

Welcome to week two of our VMware PartnerNetwork’s December Blog series on how to increase your marketing visibility for the New Year. Last week we discussed building awareness and your website as step one in our customer purchase process. This week we will focus on generating marketing leads and alerts.

Think of all the social media, email campaigns, newsletters, and telemarketing campaigns you do for prospects with the hope of generating a lead. Your prospecting goals should include:

  • Lead prospects to your website
  • Create a consistent and positive interaction
  • Impress the prospect, and leave them wanting more
  • Receive their contact information
  • Ultimately gain a solid lead.

Now what if you could entice your prospect with a microsite that tells your compelling digital story and engages them with your solutions, leaving them with a clear call to action? Imagine receiving an alert containing their details and site interaction information when a contact matches your lead criteria—perfect for making pro-active sales call or email while your site and brand are top-of-mind. Best of all, you will own the leads.

With VMware GRID, all of this is possible. The VMware GRID is a demand generation platform that provides professional, co-branded emails (eDMS), and microsites, telling compelling digital stories to engage contacts with your solutions. Every GRID site contains your logo and contact details. Best of all, the GRID generates leads right to your inbox as a complete turnkey solution.

Increase Your Marketing Visibility for the New Year

Welcome to VMware Partner Network’s December Blog series on how to increase your marketing visibility for the New Year. This four part series will discuss some exciting changes in the industry and will point out how you can get started with VMware marketing tools and resources. It’s time to recharge your online strategy for 2014 and VMware is here to help.

The key to building out any partner marketing plan is to implement marketing campaigns and tactics that drive prospects through four key steps in the customer’s purchase process as outlined below:

Step 1: Build awareness and a professional website for prospective customers.

Step 2: Generate marketing leads and alerts.

Step 3: Nurture leads by holding in-person/virtual events.

Step 4: Develop Social Best Practices and Create Partner References to keep your customers engaged and position yourself as a resource and thought leader in the industry.

Let’s kick off week 1 by starting with the basics— your website.  Your website is the front door to your company, and is certain to make a lasting first impression with a potential customer. Why is your website so important you ask? Well, think of it like this. All those business cards you hand out at networking events, or email signatures you send with your company website at the bottom, or the social media posts and emails you push out – they all link back to your website.

Now ask yourself this— will visitors to your website be able to determine what you do in less than 5 seconds? Is your website current, up to date and professional? Is it easy to navigate?  Do you have a way to capture leads? We can all agree that the user friendliness of a website is a first indication of the type of business that company is running and how successful they are. There is nothing worse than landing on a webpage that is impossible to navigate around. Even worse is one that doesn’t offer a clear mission statement, “About Us” tab, or a way to stay connected and receive more information— especially when you are looking for a partner to do business with.

If you’re beginning to think that your website isn’t in the tip-top shape it once was and could use a better way of finding and generating leads for the New Year, then check out VMware’s Website-in-a-Box.

VMware’s Website-in-a-Box is a great way to showcase your VMware partner practice using VMware content, and generate awareness. Best of all, set up is easy.
