Our VPN ‘How To’ Series is a monthly blog dedicated to keeping partners in the know about the program and other areas of focus that influence growth. This month we want to share all of the partner-specific opportunities that are available to you during VMworld 2013 in San Francisco.

Free Video Opportunity at VMworld 2013

Due to its popularity last year, the Partner Lounge video recording studio is back. The studio will be set up with all the equipment you need to create your very own professional video.

There is an unlimited amount of cool tchotchkes you can get from VMworld, but what could be better than walking away with a professional video for your communication channels?

There are 4 simple steps you can take to reserve the room, create the video, and share your clip on the VPN social channels and your own.

Here’s how it works:

  1. First come, first serve so visit the Partner Lounge, located on the 2nd Floor Atrium of Marriott Marquis Hotel on 4th Street. You will have access to the video studio, equipment and on-site assistance should you need help. The room will be available Monday and Tuesday from 10:30am-5:00pm. Please note that we can only allot 1 video per partner.
  2. 30 minute time slots will be available for set-up and video recording.
  3. Begin brainstorming ideas, with potential talking points being: What will you be demoing at your booth?  How have you innovated with VMware? Has VMware changed your business? Don’t be afraid to get creative.
  4. Upon completing the video, our team will edit and send the final file to you shortly after VMworld for you to leverage. We’ll also add it to VMware Partner TV.

VTSP Foundation Accreditation: Reloaded for Design

A VMware Technical Solutions Professional (VTSP) is an accreditation earned through our free training programs that are available through Partner University.  The VTSP Foundation Accreditation provides fundamental technical knowledge about VMware vSphere 5.1 and other solutions in the VMware portfolio.  It’s designed to help individuals in roles such as Solutions Architects, Engineers, and/or Pre-Sales Professionals develop the capabilities and gain the confidence to successfully guide customers through product evaluation, selection, and solution design based on their business requirements and/or existing IT environment.

On June 1, 2013, VMware completely updated the VTSP Foundation accreditation course to better prepare technical professionals to architect vSphere and vCenter solutions. The new accreditation training modules focus less on product implementation and more on the design aspects of VMware solutions – including improved whiteboard examples, scenario-based learning, and shorter, more focused training modules.  Following is some of the feedback received.

to fully understand the impact of this update as VMware requires all partner individuals that currently have their VTSP 3 to complete the full course requirement for VTSP 5 in order to be up to date at the current accreditation level.

Partners interested in beginning their accreditation journey should start with the VMware Role-Based Learning Paths. The VTSP learning path typically starts with the Foundation Track and then guides the individual through the Proficiency Track where they can start earning VMware Solution Competency Accreditations (badges worth bragging about).

Partners professionals interested in earning more solutions competency accreditations should consider registering for a Tech Express workshop or take the online training courses.
