Ziv Kalmanovich leads the strategic vision for hardware accelerator virtualization and enablement for VMware vSphere, VMware’s virtualization and cloud platform. As the use of hardware acceleration technologies such as GPUs and FPGAs continues to grow, so does the need to manage and better utilize this advanced infrastructure as part of the enterprise cloud. Ziv ensures customers have the technology they need to support their digital transformation in vSphere-based cloud environments.
Based in Palo Alto, California, Ziv is responsible for the enablement of analytics, machine learning (ML) and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads on vSphere, working closely with software vendors in the space. In addition, he manages the vSphere API for IO Filtering (VAIO) framework, enabling third-party disaster recovery solutions to integrate into vSphere. Ziv regularly presents at VMworld and other industry events.
Ziv earned a BSc in Computational Biology from Bar Ilan University in Israel as well as an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Prior to joining VMware, Ziv worked at technology leaders IBM and EMC on various enterprise solutions. A trilingual military veteran, Ziv enjoys cooking, travel, and reading business books.
