Author Profile: Na Zhang, Sr. Member of Technical Staff, Office of the CTO, VMware
With deep experience in high-performance computing (HPC) and machine learning (ML) virtualization and cloud, Na Zhang is a leading voice in the areas of design and implementation of vHPC tools, MLaaS platform architecture, performance-tuning and best practices for HPC and ML workloads, accelerator solutions, and integration of HPC middleware with VMware products.
Based in Boston, Na is the author of multiple research and technical papers, many designed to support VMware customers as they work to optimize their HPC and ML deployments. She has also lent her considerable expertise to a number of international HPC events, including the International Conference for High-Performance Computing, Networking, Storage, and Analysis (SC), the Workshop on Virtualization in High-Performance Cloud Computing (vHPC), and the International Conference on High Performance Computing & Simulation (HPCS).
Na earned dual undergraduate degrees from Nankai University in China in 2011, followed by her Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Stony Brook University in 2015 with research area in design of parallel algorithms for multi-scale simulations running on supercomputers. Na’s passion for machine learning drives her interest outside the office in ML/DL algorithms and ML/DL research for application in her day-to-day work at VMware.
