  1. Is there an actual Certification coming related to VMC on AWS? Does it involve taking the “VMware Cloud on AWS: Deploy and Manage class”, showing more value for the $3,108 expense than just a badge? Can you give any timelines or details. I want to certify in VMC on AWS but make sure the expense for the badge is related and not just for badge level only.

    1. The VMC on AWS will remain a digital badge. Our certifications represent VMware’s strategic IT priority areas (see, click on Solutions), and the badges allow us to build on those key pillars, representing specific solutions and products such as VMC on AWS. There is a lot of value to a badge that represents your digital credential: it allows VMware to be more flexible in updating and keeping content current, especially for products such as this that undergoes frequent updates; it allows you to more easily share your credential through your social media profiles (one click to share in your LinkedIn profile, for example), and when others click on that badge image, they can see exactly what you had to do to earn the badge; by clicking on the badge tags, they represent how in-demand the technology is in the market, by showing how many national jobs are available related to that tag; and these badges are used to meet solution competency requirements if your organization is a VMware partner. There will be additional content developed, so keep an eye out through next year for more opportunities.
