VMware Skyline – Bolsters Proactive Support for Customers with New Features

Today, VMware announced new features and broadened availability to VMware Skyline, its innovative proactive support technology to help customers operate VMware environments with increased reliability, security and performance.

Skyline automatically collects configuration, feature, and performance data through data-driven analytics. This can transform visibility into a customer’s environment – what they are running and how their VMware products are performing. Skyline enables proactive, prescriptive and predictive recommendations to improve environment stability and reliability.

New features in Skyline include:

  • VMware Skyline Advisor provides a self-service portal for customers to access real-time dashboards, proactive recommendations from VMware’s library of knowledge, and suggested upgrades to prevent potential issues.
  • VMware Skyline Log Assist, available before the end of the year, automatically uploads desired log files to VMware Technical Support once an issue is identified to help resolve support requests more quickly.

Launched at VMworld 2017, Skyline is now available globally for Production Support and Premier Services customers, in English. Skyline supports VMware vSphere, VMware NSX and now VMware vSAN with other products expected to be added in the future.

Customers run business-critical operations on VMware environments and expect to be always-on and optimized for peak performance. Skyline enables proactive, prescriptive and predictive recommendations to optimize the health of their VMware environment easily and efficiently, and experience a more streamlined support process.

Momentum for Skyline continues to grow as customers experience the benefits of this innovative proactive support technology.

  • As people trust com with their love life, Match has entrusted VMware to provide the environment required for developers to access infrastructure and app-level components to build software with the tools of their choice. “VMware Skyline identified some versioning inconsistencies in our Dev/QA clusters that we were unaware of,” said Henry Lin, lead systems admin at Match. “This kickstarted our team to develop a remediation plan which we are now executing.”
  • With 11,000 contracted employees placed weekly, Allegis, a global leader in talent solutions, requires a flexible and secure data center to handle its staffing demands. Skyline automates data gathering and analytics to help Allegis solve IT problems before they affect the business. “Our VMware Skyline deployment and data collection have been seamless, and the Operational Summary Reports are informative, giving us visibility into the key driver and security patches that we need to apply,” said Matt Szewczyk, Compute and Storage Team Lead, Allegis. “Having early insight into issues that might arise, such as security vulnerabilities, helps us prioritize the work more effectively and minimize business risk, while implementing Skyline’s recommendations for vSphere upgrades helps improve system reliability.”
