An executive level technologist with over 25 years in the information technology field, Mr. Kent is a proven leader, running large teams of engineers, technical sellers and engineers. He has extensive Public-Sector knowledge, consulting experience, and solution creation in the Federal, State & Local government and the education market. Prior to joining VMware, Mr. Kent was SVP and CTO of Idemia N.A., an Identity security company. In this role, he was responsible for the technology vision, product direction and the development and delivery teams. With 450 engineers and product owners, he helped transform this company from producing monolithic legacy applications for Public Sector customers, to one which delivers cloud-based platforms and multitenant SaaS applications. Prior to this, he spent 15 years at Cisco Systems, where he held the role of CTO and Engineering lead for the US Public Sector. He partnered with the SVP of the US Public Sector to define the sales and go to market strategy along with organization and execution metrics for this business. As the lead technologist for Cisco US Public Sector, he led the sales engineering, and architecture teams. During this time, he also led Cisco’s public-sector strategy for cybersecurity and cloud transformation and created a vertical solutions program. In this capacity, he was responsible for identifying acquisition targets, creating a government compliance and certification program, and delivering a go to market program for each technology.
