Partner Networking, Security and Operations Labs Released

Note: Today we welcome Jon Schulz as a guest blogger.  Jon also helped lead the Partners in developing content for this year’s Hands-on Labs.

Today we are releasing the final set of labs from VMworld.  These are the Partner labs focused on Networking, Security and Operations.  As a reminder, these labs are not just for Partners.  These are labs developed by our Partners to showcase their solutions and the seamless integration with VMware technology.  These labs are great for experiencing how well our Partner’s products integrate with VMware and enhance the overall solution.

Each year we look forward to working with a team of partners who are selected through a Call For Labs process.  Following our annual Partner Exchange event in the Spring, we begin collecting abstracts and evaluating entries for the upcoming catalog cycle.  The cycle spans 3 events including VMworld US, Barcelona and Partner Exchange the following year.  Each selected partner lab will be available online, along with the VMware content, through the end of following calendar year, i.e. the VMworld 2014 catalog will be available through December 2015.  The labs are available online and can be used by anyone for demos, training, Proof of Concepts, etc.  Check out the portal at http://labs.hol.vmware.com

If you are interested in submitting a lab during the Call For Labs, the process will open up after Partner Exchange 2015.  Check this blog (blogs.vmware.com/hol) for more details as we get closer to Partner Exchange.

Today’s set of labs are focused on integration with NSX, vCenter Operaions Manager and vCloud Automation Center.

Partner Storage Labs from VMworld Released

Note: To introduce the first batch of Partner Labs being released, please welcome guest blogger, David D’Entremont. Dave helped guide Partners through the Hands-on Labs process this year and led them throughout the development process.

This year, we really stepped up the Partner Hands-on Labs program and doubled the number of labs we have from our valuable Partners.  We have 12 labs in the catalog this year covering Partner integration with NSX, VSAN, vCenter Operations, vCloud Automation Center and even a sneak-peek at Virtual Volume integrations.

As a reminder, these labs are not just for Partners.  These are labs developed by our Partners to showcase their solutions and how they integrate with VMware’s.  These are great labs for anyone to take and who knows, you may find that missing piece to a solution you’ve been working to solve!

Today, we will be releasing the Partner labs focused on Storage Solutions.

Innovation in the storage ecosystem was certainly a highlight of VMworld 2014 in San Francisco.  Advances in the hardware and the architecture of storage drive our Partners to provide the best value to our end customers by integrating their solutions to be consumed as software-defined.  Some of these Partner Labs feature previews of coming integration and features, while others demonstrate the value of consuming software-defined storage today.

EMC

HOL-PRT-1461This lab gives hands-on experience on how EMC ViPR with VMware integrations can deliver Policy Based Storage Management which decrease steps in provisioning and managing storage.  Experience how to simplify provisioning storage across block and file storage directly from VMware vCenter. Then easily map your classes-of-services to vCenter storage profiles and assign appropriate data stores to new virtual machines. The lab ends with a focus on the integration of the ViPR plug-ins for vCloud Automation Center (vCAC), vCenter Cloud Operations Manager (vCOPs), vCenter and VMware Cloud Orchestration (VCO).

Atlantis Computing

HOL-PRT-1465 – Get hands-on experience with Atlantis USX: Deliver dramatically higher-performance for your production workloads, VDI, and tier 1 apps at a fraction of the capacity and cost. Deploy Atlantis USX to pool VSAN with shared storage to build hyper-converged infrastructure.

dellHOL-PRT-1467 – In this lab, you will learn more about Virtual Volumes and how they integrate with Dell EqualLogic Storage.  You will get to see how day to day tasks, like snapshots and cloning are accelerated by the Virtual Volume integration with Dell EqualLogic and how the work flows involved remain similar.

HPHOL-PRT-1470 – Explore and test drive the new unified and integrated VMware Storage Management and troubleshooting using HP’s Insight Control (ONEVIEW).  Identifying and expanding storage capability via single click datastore deployment from within vCenter.  Extending additional HP StoreFront Analytics for vCenter Operations Manager and vCOPS to provide additional insight and unified VMware and HP value.

Check back in a couple of days, when we will release the remaining Partner labs, with a focus on Networking, Security and Operations.
