Searchable online Guest and Host OS Compatibility

I'm pleased to announce the beta release of the VMware Compatibility Guide for guest and host operating system support. This web site provides a searchable interface for both guest and host compatibility for the more recent and more popular VMware products. You can view the results onscreen, or optionally export the results in part or in full, depending on your query, in PDF and Excel-compatible CSV documents. You can also view or directly export all guest and host compatibility data without a query.

In addition to compatibility support, the Compatibility Guide also includes operating system support details. View the support details onscreen by clicking the VMware product name next to the supported operating system. Support details are also included in the exported PDF and Excel documents for your convenience.

VMware products included in the Compatibility Guide:

  • ESX 3.0.x, 3.5.x and
    4.0.x and later
  • Workstation 6.0.x,
    6.5.x and later
  • Fusion 2.0.x and later
  • Server 2.0.x and later
  • ACE 2.0.x, 2.5.x and later

All operating system compatibility data for the products listed will now be published on this Web site. During beta, the standard Guest OS Install Guide will continue to be published and maintained. Historic compatibility data will be available in an archived version of the Guest OS Install Guide once the VMware Compatibility Guide GAs. Also at GA, a new version of the guide will become available that contains only installation instructions for supported guest operating systems.
