New vSphere, NSX and vRealize Orchestrator Videos in the Learning Zone

  • Andy Cary walks you through the specifics of setting up Network IO Control (NIOC) v3 in vSphere 6 in vSphere 6 – NIOC Enhancements: Demonstration.
  • In VMware NSX Traceflow Joe Silvagi demonstrates NSX Traceflow – added in VMware NSX 6.2 – which now allows you to trace end-to-end traffic paths through your virtual network for trout, shooting and network planning.
  • VMware NSX Central CLI by Joe Silvagi, shares some helpful information on NSX Central CLI – added in NSX 6.2 – allowing that you can run commands on multiple points in NSX from a single location. Joe discusses features, sample commands, and resources helpful to using the NSX Central CLI.

VCAP6-DTM Design Beta Exam Available

VCAPLast month we announced the availability of our VMware Certified Advanced Professional 6 – Data Center Virtualization Design (VCAP6-DCV Design) and VMware Certified Advanced Professional 6 – Cloud Management and Automation Design (VCAP6-CMA Design) beta exams.

While those exams have moved to the evaluation stage, the third exam – VMware Certified Advanced Professional 6 – Desktop and Mobility Design (VCAP6-DTM Design) – has opened for registration.

As with the earlier exams, only candidates with either a VCP6 level certification or a VCP5 level certification + a VCAP5 level certification are eligible to take this exam. The exam is only $100 and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to popular demand, we recommend that you register soon.

4 Exam Retirements in June

Now that we have released most of the version 6 certifications on our roadmap, it is time to retire some of the older version 5 certifications. These exams are based upon older content and by retiring them it allows us – and you – to focus on the newest VMware technology.

After the retirement date (shown below) the following certification exams will be retired and no new registrations will be accepted.

  • The new App Volumes Application and User Profile Management v2.x course builds your skills in application management using VMware App Volumes™ and VMware User Environment Manager™. You will learn how to use App Volumes to enable the delivery of applications and data to desktops and users in seconds and at scale. You will gain skills in managing application lifecycle from installation to update and replacement.
  • During Virtual SAN: Deploy & Manage [V6.2] you will focus on deploying and managing a software-defined storage solution with VMware Virtual SAN™ 6.2. You will learn how Virtual SAN functions as an important component in the VMware software-defined data center (SDDC).
  • The On Demand version of our NSX: Install, Configure, Manage v6.2 course focuses on installing, configuring, and managing VMware NSX®. You will learn how to use logical switching in VMware NSX to virtualize your switching environment. The course also details logical routing to enable you to dynamically route between different virtual environments, as well as how to use gateway services, firewall configurations, and security services to help secure and optimize your VMware NSX environment.

Beta versions of some of these courses may also be available. Beta courses let you participate in finalizing the near-complete course while saving 50% off the course price.
