VMworld US wrapped up in fabulous Las Vegas two weeks ago. Between the breakout sessions, keynotes and networking events, the week was nothing short of inspiring. Before we start packing for VMworld Europe in Barcelona, let’s revisit some of the highlights.

vCloud Air Announcements

One of the key themes at this year’s event is helping IT teams modernize their data centers by seamlessly integrating them with vCloud Air. Each of our updates announced at VMworld address challenges these teams face.

Hybrid Cloud Manager: Our very own Jim Armstrong, Group Manager for vCloud Air Product Marketing, introduced the latest release of vCloud Air Hybrid Cloud Manager. This exciting update allows vSphere users to seamlessly extend networking to the cloud via an optimized, software-defined WAN like never before.

This updated version of Hybrid Cloud Manager marks a huge stride in cloud connectivity and we can’t wait for our customers to get started.

Hybrid DMZ: Security and networking are two of the leading barriers to realizing public cloud benefits. Thankfully, with the introduction of Hybrid DMZ Reference Designs for vCloud Air, customers can streamline user management, regulate software licensing, reduce TCO and consolidate existing security.

With Hybrid DMZ, customers can achieve cost and resource savings in addition to superior IT control.

Identity federation support: VMware is committed to helping IT teams modernize existing data centers by seamlessly extending them with vCloud Air. With identity federation support, you can extend your data center or IT organization to vCloud Air and add cloud-based agility, scale, and reach to your existing IT practices – all without changing existing tools, processes, and skillsets.

Hands-on Labs at VMworld

This year over 10,600 Hands-on Labs were completed at VMworld – equating to 116,666 virtual machines deployed! Hands-on Labs are the perfect way to try out VMware products first-hand, risk-free and in a controlled environment. If you couldn’t attend VMworld, you can still reap the benefits of taking a Hands-on Lab in your very own home. Follow this link to get started.

VMworld Party

Last, but not least, this year’s VMworld party was a major success. Attendees gathered at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway to watch some of the world’s fastest cars raced around the track, and dance the night away to Capital Cities and Fall Out Boy.

If you’re having VMworld withdrawals, be sure to head over to the vCloud Twitter and Facebook page to take a look at our photos albums from the event. We hope you’re able to join us in Las Vegas next year!
