More exciting announcements around End User Computing were made today during Day 2 of VMworld. Here’s a rundown of the major news released today.
VMware Horizon Suite offers a flexible, integrated platform for mobile workers to connect to the corporate workspace in the cloud, wherever they may be. The sudden influx of mobile devices has become a bit of a stumbling block, but the Horizon Suite’s set of tools allows users to access and share their data from any device, across any platform. The beta version of Horizon Suite is expected to be available in late 2012.
Also announced were the VMware View and Wanova Mirage appliances, which offer centralized desktop management solutions that assist IT organizations to transform legacy Windows desktops into a service. These tools will increase security and control, as well as offer simplified systems and application management.
First announced at EMC World in May, today VMware and EMC announced an early access program to the EMC Storage Analytics Suite to existing VMware vCenter Operations Management Suite enterprise customers. The EMC Storage Analytics Suite for VNX features EMC VNX storage performance and capacity analytics, allowing customers to proactively identify bottlenecks, balance workloads, and pinpoint potential performance issues.
The early-access program will begin in September until December, and the EMC Storage Analytics Suite will be available to the public in late 2012.
Also announced this morning was an expansion in our joint effort with Dell to simplify the delivery of world-class desktop virtualization solutions. The new Dell vStart for VDI, in conjunction with VMware View, gives the combination of cloud client computing with desktop virtualization, enabling organizations of all sizes to offer access to applications anywhere, anytime, as well as simplify IT management and security.
