The cloud native team is heading to San Francisco next week, this time for DockerCon 2018. Since our team spends most of our time working with cloud native applications and open source software, we are very excited about the  talks by practitioners, hands-on labs, and great lineup of speakers.

Kendrick Coleman will be giving a talk on Wednesday at 5:25 pm titled “Containers are fast, lightweight and portable, but what about your platform?”, and Alex Ellis will be on two panels: Container Innovation SIG and a Serverless Panel. We will also have a booth to discuss how we’ve got your infrastructure covered so you can keep coding.

Tuesday evening the exhibit area opens up for the public. Team members Arslan, Clint, Kenny, Jonas, and Simone will be in our booth #G28 to answer questions and talk about operationalizing next-gen apps, open source projects, Docker, Kubernetes, Harbor, the Container Storage Interface (CSI), and REX-Ray. After the opening social, we are headed to learn more about GitOps and some key applications, such as Helm, Istio and OpenFaaS.

Make sure to stop by to see how easy it is to run Kubernetes on vSphere and GCP with VMware PKS; to enhance Kubernetes networking and security with NSX-T; and to monitor your apps and Kubernetes clusters using Wavefront. We will also host open source hours to talk through contributions to the following open source projects:

  • OpenFaaS: serverless functions made simple for Kubernetes
  • Harbor: secure container registry extending Docker Distribution
  • Dispatch: serverless platform for Kubernetes
  • Container Storage Interface: universal storage interface between container orchestrators and storage providers
  • REX-Ray: container storage orchestration engine enabling persistence
  • Tern: container image audit tool

DockerCon will have up to 5,500 people this year attending, learning, and sharing. We hope to see you in San Francisco June 12-15!
