At last week’s Dell Technologies World, VMware CEO Pat Gelsinger delivered a keynote speech on stage where he talked about Pivotal Container Service (PKS), the Kubernetes solution brought to you by VMware with Pivotal, in collaboration with Google.

Pat started his talk by stating that one of the missions of VMware is to close the gap between infrastructure and developer teams, a gap that often resulted in political silos and separations in organizations. VMware’s solutions aim to help developers achieve the speed needed for business success while helping IT to meet its security, stability, and infrastructure resiliency requirements. In today’s IT world where the coexistence of containers and VMs is proven to be necessary, the challenge lies in how to bridge these two worlds together and operationalize containers in a consistent infrastructure without compromising security and management. PKS was brought to market to tackle this challenge and bring the container and VM, developer and IT, today and tomorrow together.

In his talk, Pat also brought on stage Chad Sakac, Principal Engineer at Pivotal, to talk about the use case stories of PKS customers and to present together a picture of how VMware and Pivotal enable every workload, today and into the future.
