The Boston Cloud Foundry Summit kicks off on April 18 with the Cloud Foundry User Day. Organized as an unconference, this is the meeting place for Cloud Foundry users to share ideas, best practices and lessons learned. All Cloud Foundry users and prospective users are invited to attend!

VMware will be the Platinum sponsor of the Cloud Foundry Summit. Here’s what we have in store.

Featured Talks

VMware will be delivering the track introductions for the Containers and Serverless and Operating Cloud Foundry tracks, as well as a handful of other featured talks.

Using Cloud Foundry Container Runtime to Run Your Kubernetes Clusters
Kaiting Chen, staff engineer, VMware, and Oleksandr Slynko, staff software engineer, Pivotal, will discuss how Cloud Foundry Container Runtime, an OSS Project developed jointly by VMware, Pivotal and Google, provides uniform way to instantiate, deploy, and manage highly-available Kubernetes clusters using BOSH – on Google Cloud Engine, VMware vSphere, AWS, Openstack and Microsoft Azure, using BOSH. Oleksandr and Kaiting will demonstrate deployment across multiple IAASes, cluster healing, cluster upgrade and cluster creation.

Building Secure Image Pipelines with Kubernetes and Harbor
In the demo theater, VMware Product Line Manager Merlin Glynn will discuss how development teams can leverage open source foundations such as Kubernetes, Harbor and Jenkins to deploy code in a consistent, predictable, and declarative manner. Merlin will demo a fully automated CI/CD pipeline that ensures only scanned images are deployed into production.

Dispatch – A Serverless Framework
Join Berndt Jung, senior manager of engineering, and Mark Peek, principal engineer, VMware, for their talk on Dispatch, an open source serverless framework from VMware. Berndt and Mark will demonstrate Dispatch leveraging RIFF for function execution and services via Open Service Broker API (CF service broker and Kubernetes service catalog).|

Beyond the talks, more exciting events are happening at the summit! Join us for the Cloud Foundry Hackathon. Participants will be able to apply their skills toward enhancing Cloud Foundry in profound new ways. This could include: building new plugins, new buildpacks, multi-cloud capabilities via BOSH CPIs, innovative services or marketplace capabilities, just to name a few. Hackathon winners will receive amazing prizes and the first-place winner will be announced during Friday keynotes. Our own Boskey Savla, product line marketing manager, will be on the judging team – so come say hi!

But talks and the Hackathon aren’t the only places to find us! Be sure to also check out VMware’s demos during Cloud Foundry Summit. We will be showcasing VMware Pivotal Container Service (PKS), Kubernetes networking with VMware NSX-T and monitoring with Wavefront by VMware.
