This week, June 13–15, you’ll find the VMware team at the Cloud Foundry Summit Silicon Valley in Santa Clara, Calif. As a premier event for enterprise app developers, the summit “will make you an expert in microservices and continuous delivery in your language or framework of choice.” Learn more and register here.

What Is Cloud Foundry?

Cloud Foundry is an open source, multi-cloud application platform as a service governed by the Cloud Foundry Foundation. Cloud Foundry gives developers the freedom to focus on creating apps, not infrastructure.

VMware + Cloud Foundry

At VMware, the collaboration driven by open source contributors is how we will build, test, deploy and scale applications faster. And as the company that initially developed the software for Cloud Foundry, continuing to learn from, contribute and participate in this community is important to us.

Featured Demos:

  1. Developer-Ready Infrastructure: Pivotal Cloud Foundry & vRealize for Platform Operations

In this demonstration, we’ll showcase how a Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) Operator can use integrated application, and platform monitoring and logging, to keep applications running healthy and diagnose capacity, trends, and faults.

  1. Photon Platform & Cloud Native Applications

We’ll show you how Photon Platform can provide a simple and scalable platform for running PCF and Kubernetes. Also, we’ll demo a simple API consumption model of Photon Platform and NSX-T Container Network Interface integration with Kubernetes.

  1. Developer-Ready Infrastructure: Platform as Code

Learn how a PCF Operator can deploy an integrated Developer-Ready Infrastructure (DRI) stack as a repeatable pipeline and push a Docker image based applications to the deployed PCF using Concourse and Harbor – an open source container registry – for all automation.

  1. Developer Ready Infrastructure: Pivotal Cloud Foundry & NSX SDN

We’ll demo PCF and NSX-V integration from PCF Operations Manager 1.11. This supports dynamic BOSH job allocation to NSX security groups and load balancing pools, as well as highlighting PCF isolation segments and NSX architecture. All of this allows both the PCF Developer and Operator to assign policy driven application-level security.

  1. Developer Ready Infrastructure: Container Networking with NSX-T & PCF

We’ll showcase an early view of NSX-T integrations with Cloud Foundry. This demo will show how applications pushed to Cloud Foundry become tagged virtual ports in NSX-T, thus enabling advanced security policy capabilities.

Featured Events:

  1. Hackathon

The challenge begins on Tuesday at 9 a.m. and wraps up at 3 p.m. The hackathon, sponsored by VMware, will be judged by Dr. Max, IBM Cloud Labs; Brad Meiseles, VMware; and Chris Clark, Cloud Foundry Foundation. The focus is innovation and creativity, inviting “any project that extends and enhances Cloud Foundry in an interesting way.”

Winners will be announced on Thursday during the morning keynote. Come applaud as the winners take the stage and claim their hard-earned prizes. Learn more here.

  1. Cocktail reception

Click here to register for a cocktail reception on Tuesday at 7:20 p.m at the Santa Clara Convention Center. James Watters and Andrew Clay Shafer from Pivotal and VMware’s Paul Fazzone will be in Great America Hall, located on the second floor of the Santa Clara Convention Center.
