Day 1 General SessionPat Gelsinger shared how VMware is using tech for good. Plus he announced groundbreaking new hybrid cloud, multi-cloud and modern apps services, integrating Kubernetes into vSphere and making container management easier across every environment. |
Day 2 General SessionVMware CTO, Ray O’Farrell guided us through demos of VMware Tanzu and Project Pacific, showing how they make it easier to build on, run and manage Kubernetes on any cloud, as well as on vSphere. Plus CTO Greg Lavender demonstrated new hybrid cloud, edge and IoT capabilities in action. |
Cloud City
Our interactive learning and demonstration space was back again, bigger and better than ever. Thousands of guests converged on the futuristic installation for engaging demos on how to get the most out of hybrid cloud, multi-cloud and modern apps solutions. Whether exploring how to shift workloads more simply with new Dell and Azure integrations, or how to make the most financially viable migration decisions with Cloud Economics, the workshops were hugely popular.
Attendees also enjoyed personalized consultations to help with their transformation projects, and got up close and personal with Kubernetes and Heptio co-founder Joe Beda in his exclusive book-signing.

VMware Hybrid Cloud Platform
A key moment was the unveiling of Hybrid Cloud Platform, bringing together VMware’s services for providing consistent infrastructure and operations across the data center, edge and public clouds. Hybrid Cloud Platform will include VMware Cloud Foundation, VMware Cloud Marketplace and a range of other powerful services, spanning every major public cloud provider. |

Tanzu Mission Control
If there was a single star of VMworld 2019, it was Kubernetes. Pat showed VMware’s deepening commitment to the platform at Monday’s general session with the announcement of Tanzu Mission Control, giving enterprises the ability to manage Kubernetes clusters on any cloud, from a single pane of glass. The solution leverages capabilities of recent Pivotal and Bitnami acquisitions. |

Project Pacific (Beta)
The other major Kubernetes announcement to cause a stir was the launch of the long-rumored Project Pacific, integrating Kubernetes into VMware’s flagship vSphere offering.
