VMware Ranks #3 in Computerworld Best Places to Work in IT

A Culture of Possibility Starts With Our Customers

VMware believes in the power of the individual to affect change. As the waves of technology adoption accelerate, the business must be able to respond to market opportunities much faster. VMware IT plays a crucial role in enabling innovation in order to provide the solutions and services to make this a reality.

That’s why I couldn’t be prouder to share that VMware was just awarded the #3 ranking in the large company size category of IDG Computerworld’s 2018 Best Places to Work in IT, advancing from the #6 spot just a year ago, and vaulting from #26 the year prior. The list is based on extensive surveys of IT employees on employee satisfaction with management, benefits, workplace culture, compensation and job duties, as well as our offerings in career development, retention, the percentage of women and minority staff in IT management and mentoring programs.

This recognition is a tremendous milestone in our journey towards becoming a best-in-class IT trailblazer as we manage disruptive change at an exponential rate. How we think and who we are sets our organization apart. Our unrelenting dedication to our EPIC2values –  execution, passion, integrity, customers, and community – makes us a vibrant place to work, where the best ideas can thrive.

We owe our success to our customers. By enabling a culture of possibility within our organization, we become agents of innovation for them, with programs such as our VMware on VMware, where we consume our own technology to solve the most critical challenges – the same challenges that our customers face every day. We are passionate about giving backto our communities. We are committed to creating the best experience for our colleagues with Workspace ONE,our intelligent digital workspace platform that makes our work lives infinitely easier. We stay humble and continually evolve through reverse mentoring.  And finally, we’ve transformed our organizationto become true partners with the business to quickly identify and implement solutions to drive agility driven by three core objectives: simplify the architecture, automate wherever possible, and improve the colleague experience.

Historian/philosopher Will Durant said, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” Indeed, our evolution as an IT organization is based on what we do every day, day in and day out, obsessed with our customer’s success. This award is just one step along our journey towards the many possibilities that lie ahead. On behalf of the VMware IT organization, we look forward to continuing to take that journey with you.
