Why Partners Should Check Out vFabric at PEX

The VMware Partner Exchange (PEX) is coming up next month from February 25-28 in Las Vegas. This event is the premier event for partners to meet with product specialists from VMware, to educate and enable them to sell VMware products and services. Many partners attend just for the virtualization software itself, but especially over the past few years, many partners have opened their go-to-market strategies to include how to build cloud-ready apps using the vFabric product family.

This year, partners attending the event may be thinking of the news of the Pivotal Initiative announced last December, where a significant portion of the vFabric products are moving out of the VMware umbrella and into a new company. These partners attending or deciding to attend PEX may question if they should still pay attention to the vFabric portion of this event. Our answer is resoundingly YES. Here’s why:

  1. These products still are relevant to your customers.  Since the Pivotal Initiative was started because we are experience a significant change in the market towards wide-scale move to the cloud, we could argue that these products are more relevant than ever before.  This meeting culminates the past year of work the VMware vFabric team has put into pushing the capabilities of the vFabric products like GemFire, SQLFire, tc Server, Application Director, and Data Director to help your customers build complicated applications that are easier to build, run and manage across cloud environments. This is your shot to see these products showcased together and prepare for the year ahead.
  2. Mobile applications are a big theme for this year. According to Forbes, tablet adoption is skyrocketing by 50% annually. By 2015, we expect that application projects for mobile devices will out number traditional web applications by 4 to 1.  To this end, customers need to do better on managing big fast data, and building apps that scale gracefully with usage across these platforms. In addition to a dedicated session on Mobility Solutions and vFabric, there are several other sessions that will help modernize existing apps and build foundations for big, fast data to power them.
  3. This is the best place to meet people who will work with you in the future company.  Product, sales and partner leaders that will be part of the new organization will be present and available to meet. This event provides partners an excellent opportunity to secure relationships that will transition to the new company.
  4. These products will continue to be optimized for VMware. Even though these products will not be primarily under the VMware brand any longer, they will still be optimized for the VMware infrastructure. Through our history, current level of first-class support for the VMware platform, and the fact that VMware remains the leader in the virtualization market, these products will continue to evolve alongside the VMware product family and maintain their level of first-class support.
  5. VMware plans to continue to sell these products. Many of the products moving over to the new company are part of larger suites, providing customers with larger bundles of products at good price points. While some suites may be modified in the future with regular updates to pricing and packaging, it is the intention of VMware to resell the products that are being moved to the new Pivotal Initiative.
  6. There are 3 days worth of FREE training classes based on yet to be announced competency. Aside from the individual sessions and breakouts, VMware is providing 5 free bootcamps on vFabric products that will help you walk away with completed sales and presales training, and help you to be more effective in selling to your customers.

If that isn’t enough to convince you, take a look at the plans we have for the event itself.
