VMware Data Recovery 1.2 Available Today!

We just posted VMware Data Recovery 1.2!  While it is only a dot one increase in terms of version number (don't ask, long story), all the minor changes that we implemented really do add up to a major change.  Here are some highlights of the new release:

  • a file level restore client for Linux virtual machines
  • ability to run up to 10 VDR appliances per vCenter Server instance
  • ability to fast switch between the deployed appliances via the vSphere Client plug-in

We also included the fixes to customer found problems, so VDR 1.2 is both a feature and maintenance release.  But instead of listing out every fix, feature and enhancement, I thought a 3 minute video walk through would be good use of everyone's time.  Additional documentation can be found here.  Enjoy!

Is it just me or is the video not working for other people?

The video played successfully on IE with QuickTime 7.

"Video" works in either Media Player or Quicktime - but it seems to be a silent movie or if the audio is there, it's not working for me.

We've been testing 1.2 in-house for a few weeks now and I have to say, it's a BIG improvement over the previous release. We've found it to be completely stable and glitch-free. The performance seems to be better as well.

Definitely worth a try.
