Last night Third Eye Blind rocked the Partner Exchange at the VMware Partner Appreciation Party.

Today concludes VMware Partner Exchange 2013.  A big thanks to the 4000+ attendees who were able to join us in Vegas. Following summarizes the partner accomplishments for the week.

VMware Partner Exchange 2013: Highlights of Day 3

Each year we host an Awards Gala at Partner Exchange to recognize our top partners – regionally and globally – who have demonstrated excellence in their partnership and solutions based on VMware technology. Last night our key partners were honored in a variety of categories for helping customers evolve to a software-defined data center with VMware solutions. Congratulations to all our winners. The global winners were brought onto stage during this mornings General Session as shown in the photo below.

Pat Gelsinger, VMware, CEO, opened today’s General Session. He shared our top priorities, Virtualization (SDDC), Hybrid Cloud and Mobility (end-user computing) – along with our refined commitment to the channel. Next Carl Eschenbach, VMware, COO, delivered our go-to-market strategy to support the way the industry has shifted its way of doing business in this new era of IT.

The 20+ hands-on labs dedicated to applications, end-user computing, infrastructure, operations, and partner-sponsored environments have been a big hit. If you haven’t had the opportunity to stop by, then please carve out some time tomorrow.

As the highlight of a week of VMware Certified Design Expert (VCDX) activities at PEX, which included a prep bootcamp and candidate design defenses, last night’s VCDX / vExpert reception was a huge success.

The number of partners who have achieved their certifications and competencies during these past couple days continues to grow. We’ll have more statistics to share with you on tomorrow’s conference wrap update.

VMware Partner Exchange 2013: Highlights of Day 2

Whew, what a day and night it’s been here in Vegas… To keep today’s update short, we’ll just  focus on highlights from the Partner Exchange’s General Session.

First up was Dan Smoot, SVP of Customer Operations.  He shared his insights, best practices, and the new programs and resources that will empower VMware partners to fully capitalize on these opportunities and meet the demands of the new era in IT.  In particular, he announced the new Cloud Credit Purchasing Program, designed to enable Solution Providers to offer a full range of cloud solutions. This program provides a means for businesses to budget and pay for public and hybrid cloud usage credits upfront, and then redeem those credits with approved VMware Service Providers.

Next up was Rick Jackson, our CMO, followed by Raghu Raghuram, VMware, EVP of Cloud Infrastructure and Management.  Both addressed the technologies driving the new Era of IT and the launch of VMware’s new products, vCloud Suite and Horizon Suite – our 1-2 punch.  The first punch starts with the concept for virtualizing not only servers and applications, but also networking, storage, and security – a complete virtualized data center – that enables organization to deliver every component of IT as a service (ITaaS).  Hence a software-defined data center (SDDC) will enable IT departments to facilitate an environment that enables innovation, and paves the way for customers to take one of two paths, vCloud Suite or vShpere with Operations Management (vSOM).  The second punch refers to our new mobile solution, the VMware Horizon Suite, which delivers functionality to all the mobile users so that they can access all the apps and data they need securely, from any device, anywhere.

Tomorrow’s General Session presenters will focus on the strategies we’ve developed to fully take charge of the IT era, as well as the advantages of our mutual success in 2013.

VMware Partner Exchange 2013: Highlights of Day 1

Today VMware Partner Exchange greeted over 4,000 partners at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.  While the Welcome Reception officially kicked off the conference, many registrants began their enablement journey over the weekend by attending pre-conference boot camps.  Others got started today and attended various workshops, took advantage of the discounted (half price) certification exams, or stopped by our hands-on lab environments.

The Welcome Reception, sponsored by EMC, provided the forum for partners to not just interact, but also to explore the new products and solutions, participate in the Partner Exchange Tweetup, and learn about VMware Partner Link – the new social collaboration platform for VMware Partners.

In addition to all of the on-going enablement activities and meetings occurring over the next few days, we are stoked about the General Session presenter line-up.  Tomorrow, attendees will hear from VMware executives relative to the strategies and technologies that will build our businesses together, and Rick Jackson, our CMO, will deliver a 1-2 punch that you’re not going to want to miss. VMware Unveils VMware Horizon Suite, Industry’s Most Comprehensive Platform for Workforce Mobility

In addition to the recent cloud solutions announcements of VMware vSphere with Operations Management and VMware vSphere Data Protection Advanced, VMware recently launched a workforce mobility solution to help you capitalize on end-user computing trends. VMware Horizon Suite, featuring Horizon Workspace, Horizon Mirage and Horizon View, is an integrated and secure way for your customers to access data from the device of their choice.

A report by Forrester Research Inc. finds the use of personal devices outside of IT control alarming — with 67 percent of employees using personally selected smartphones and 46 percent using personally selected laptops – none of which were approved or issued by the company. And, a recent survey by VMware found that 83 percent of IT administrators wanted to prevent the use of consumer online storage and collaboration applications.
