Reminder: VMware Infrastructure 3 Standard to Enterprise Upgrade Promotion

On August 1, 2007, VMware began offering a promotion for legacy ESX2.x VIN customers to upgrade from VMware Infrastructure 3 Standard to VMware Infrastructure 3 Enterprise for 50% off list price - only USD$1,500 per 2 processors. This is a limited time offering. On October 1, 2007, the price will increase to USD$1,750 per 2 processors and after December 14, 2007, it will return to its full price of USD$3,000 per 2 processors.

  • This promotion is available worldwide.
  • All partners who are authorized to sell VMware Infrastructure 3 Enterprise may offer this promotion to their respective customers.
  • This promotion does not include VMotion. ESX 2.x VIN customers with SnS should have received VMotion previously as part of their subscription contract. This promotion includes Distributed Resource Scheduler, VMware High Availability and VMware Consolidated Backup.
  • Sales of this upgrade SKU will count towards all partner sales incentive programs.
  • In order to take advantage of this offer, customers must meet the following eligibility requirements:
    • Customer must be current on SnS (will be validated) and must purchase SnS at the same level (e.g., Gold, Platinum) of their existing SnS license.
    • Orders cannot contain multiple support levels
    • Customer must buy at least one year of SnS for the promotional upgrade license
    • Orders must be received by VMware by Friday, September 28, 2007 (for the price of USD$1,500 per 2 processors) or by Friday, December 14, 2007 (for the price of USD$1,750 per 2 processors).

Adding your Company Logo

Send us an email with your logo in a gif or jpeg format. The image size should be no larger than 2x2 inches or 144 x 144 pixels at a resolution of 96dpi.

Removing an Inactive User

Please have the primary contact person of your company’s account send us an email with the name of the person you wish to remove from the account. The Partner Central administrator will de-activate the account and send you a confirmation email.

Registering for a New User Account

Registering for a new user account is easy . . . follow these simple steps:

  • Go to Partner Central
  • Select " Already a partner, but need access? Click here" under the "Sign In" box (Note: Your email address must be the same as the company domain we have listed in Partner Central to receive immediate access)
  • Locate and select your company name listed in the drop down menu
  • Complete the form
  • User will receive an email with their login credentials

VMware ESX Server 3.0.2 and VMware Consolidated Backup 1.0.3 Available Now

In July, VMware released a maintenance update to VirtualCenter. VirtualCenter 2.0.2 features expanded database platform support along with several maintainability and performance enhancements.

Today, we are pleased to announce that VMware ESX Server 3.0.2 and VMware Consolidated Backup 1.0.3 are now available. These maintenance releases provide enhanced compatibility, bug fixes, and a roll-up of previous patches to VMware ESX Server and VMware Consolidated Backup.

ESX 3.0.2 is a no-cost update for ESX Support and Subscription (SnS) and Support and Limited Subscription (SlS) contract holders. VCB 1.0.3 is a no-cost update for VCB SnS and SlS contract holders.

Release Highlights

  • Multimedia Support: Wyse Multimedia Support can now be installed into compatible guest operating systems, enabling supported devices to receive encoded video streams via RDP/ICA.
  • Support for new or updated guest operating systems, backup & restore software, management agents, device drivers, and server hardware and networking/storage controllers.
  • Simplified Patch Management: All previously released ESX 3.0.x patches have been rolled up into ESX 3.0.2. In addition, esxupdate ease-of-use has been enhanced in several ways, including permitting updates to be installed out of chronological order, and an added feature that checks for sufficient disk space before an update installation is attempted.
  • VCB Support for iSCSI Storage: VMware Consolidated Backup version 1.0.3 now supports iSCSI storage in addition to Fibre Channel storage, resolves several known issues, and expands support for 3rd party backup software.

VMware Sales Professional (VSP) Version 2.0

VMware is pleased to announce an update to the VMware Sales Professional (VSP) sales accreditation course on September 10, 2007. This update to the English version of VSP will includes changes to VMware products and solutions since the previous version of the training was launched. These updates will help our partners succeed by knowing the most up-to-date information.

If you are in the process of completing the VSP Program, you can continue throughout the update process. However, in order to ensure you receive accurate credit for your work, please complete any courses you may have already started (but not finished) by 5:00PM Pacific Time, Friday, September 7, 2007. Any partner who is currently VSP accredited will keep their accreditation with the new release.
