This month's patch set for ESX Server 3.0.x is now available, including several Security Patches and one Critical Patch for ESX Server 3.0.1. This patch adds support for Microsoft Clustering Server (MSCS) with Windows 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) and R2 Guest Operating Systems (KB 2021).

Is there a way to restart the vi client on the esx server without rebooting the whole server?

Yes. service mgmt-vmware restart
I'm not sure if this will allow you to patch without a restart, but it will restart the VC information.

Is there anyway to keep the ESX servers patched automatically. Something silly like 'red hat network' or 'windows updates'?

I have a new ESX 3.0.1 system and want to patch it up to the latest patch ...Can I just apply the latest patch or do I have to apply all patches to date in sequential order?

Is there a consolidated download for all VI3 patches since release?
