  1. Macbook Pro with Retina display users – if you bought you Macbook Pro this summer and bought Fusion 4 before July 25, you are out of luck. Not only does Fusion 4 not support the Retina display (it creates resolution problems), but you are not eligible for free upgrade to 5 which fixes this problem. Apple gave those purchasers a free upgrade to Mountain Lion, even Microsoft treats their users more fairly. If you are an early adopter, decided to take a chance on VMWare Fusion, I’d strongly suggest you consider Parallels in the future. VMWare chose an arbitrary date for this cutoff, without your interests as a customer (both now and in the future) in mind….

    • I totally agree. I bought fusion on July 16th. Just little over a month before the release of fusion 5. I wasn’t aware that 5 was about to be released so I didn’t even consider waiting a few days longer.

Now I totally understand that you have to pick a date and that some people are only going to miss out on a free upgrade by a day or two days. But VMWare choose to pic this date less than a month from the release. That’s just plain bad…

As you say Apple, Microsoft etc. all tread their customers better.

My next purchase will definitely be parallels. It was already better than VMware and now with this policy it’s also cheaper after a few upgrades..

  2. amazing part to me is that there is no upgrade from 4 to 5. only 4 to 5 professional – again lining their pockets and forcing us to buy a more expensive edition that we don’t want. not cool

  3. Question: Where are the Professional features?
I paid for the upgrade for 5 licenses of Fusion 5 Professional. I’m trying to find information regarding the Professional features but I can’t find any reference to them even in the documentation.
I’ve looked in Automator and also in ARD but likewise, no reference.
The About VMWare Fusion say “Professional Version 5.0.0 (802507)” so I know I have it.
I’ve even looked in the package to see if there is anything there but again, no references.
    Best regards
