Testing port connectivity with Telnet

Here is another video as promised.

Note: This video is one of the more “basic-in-nature” topics.

If you are an experienced and seasoned computing and virtualization veteran then this video will probably not be of much interest to you, however there is always someone out there that can always use an extra helping hand. Also as one of our goals and missions is to ensure that as many of the articles within the VMware Support Knowledge Base as possible are enhanced with tutorial videos, then this video was always destined to come about at some stage. No time like the present, eh?

For troubleshooting purposes, it may be necessary to test connectivity to the different ports on your servers.  This video provides you with a brief overview of the steps to use the Telnet utility to test connectivity to different ports on your servers from either a Windows or Linux host.

Basic and straight to the point…
