As you get ready for the week ahead, have you thought about how you could be spending a couple of weeks of your summer giving back to the community? VMware and Cloud Foundry have teamed up with Code for America, SocialCoding4Good and GitHub to help answer that question with #ContributingCode, a competition for students (with valid student identification) in the Palo Alto, California area beginning July 13, 2012.

 Your mission, should you choose to accept, is to volunteer your unique talents and creativity on a two week long coding sprint. Don’t worry if this is your first coding competition or if you have never coded, because the Cloud Foundry Developer Relations team will provide training at bootcamp showing you everything you need to get started! Your assignment will be revealed during the bootcamp on July 13 and the Code Sprint submission deadline is Saturday, July 28. Each team will be given a private GitHub repository and may have a maximum of 4 members, with each team assigned a local non-profit to code for. Don’t code? No problem! You can also participate by providing ideas, visualizing and sketching the UI.

• Boot camp  on July 13^th   - VMware Headquarters (Palo Alto) 12:30 -4:30pm

• DEADLINE FOR REGISTRATION: – July 13, 11:59:59 pm PDT (each team member must register) 

• Code Sprint on July 28 will be held at VMware Headquarters.
